IEV 2021 Awards

The Institute of Valencian Studies announces the second edition of its awards within the Valencian cultural world for 2021: the Lluïs Alcanyis Research Award and the Manuela Solis Claras Creation Award.

These awards want to pay tribute to those leading figures in Valencian history, promote research and creation in the Valencian language.

Lluïs Alcanyis (Xativa 1440 - Valencia 1510) was a Valencian doctor and poet, his family was a Jew-convert, he held the first chair of medicine at the University of Valencia and published the work "Preservative and curative regiment of pestilence" in indications for prevent and cure plague.

Manuela Solis (Valencia 1862 to 1910) was a Valencian gynecologist, the first Valencian university student and the first woman to obtain a degree in medicine at the University of Valencia.
